Federal Evidence Rule 902(14)

FRE 902(14) may be the most significant legal development impacting electronic stored information (ESI ) collection practice to date.

While Rule 902(14) does not go into effect until Dec 1, 2017, it has immediate implications as digital evidence is typically collected well before trial.

The updated rules of evidence mandate a digital identification and verification process that can only be achieved with purpose-built computer forensics or eDiscovery collection and preservation tools such as the Actevis Collection Wizard. Evidence collected without a proper digital chain of custody will not be admissible.
